Many who are trying to work online and earn money from home, are finally starting to realise that being successful in the business, does not necessarily mean promoting the business all the time.
This may sound strange but it is certainly a fact that nowadays, people prefer to do business with people, not companies.
When it comes to regular 'real life' companies, that's not the case. People are attracted to the brand or the company that they trust. That's why people insist on buying a BMW car or Apple computer. They trust the brand.
But for online business, you don't necessarily have that same brand awareness or reputation.
Even though you may be working with a company that you completely trust, it is almost certainly not one that has been around for decades and built that trust through worldwide exposure or consistent high quality.
You likely chose it, either because it 'felt right' or the person that referred you to it is somebody whose judgement you trust.
So that brings me on to my point.
You need to build yourself into that person whose recommendations people trust.
People are more wary of online businesses and so the word of a trusted friend is very valuable.
You need to be that trusted person, so how do you do that?
The first thing to remember is that if you have not built some sort of good reputation, promoting your business, no matter how good it is, will not generate any success for you.
You need to give people a reason to want to work with you.
A great way to do this is through social media sites, especially Facebook.
You should use that as your way to show the world who you are and what you are.
You let them know you're a good person, honest, likes to have fun.
You can achieve this by posting about just normal things you do in life. posting about holidays, showing some pictures. Maybe posting a little story about something you got up to with your kids.
Posting questions that provoke replies from people, or opinions that are likely to engage others, without being too extreme or offensive.
This format should make up a large portion of all your Facebook activity.
What you are doing is painting a picture of the sort of person you are. Showing people you are just a normal person who likes to have fun, spend time with family, go on holidays, but also work hard and look out for other people.
Basically, showing the world that you are a very good person to do business with.
Only when people think that about you will they ever consider buying your product or signing up with your business opportunity.
You still only want to be trying to promote your business about 20% of the time you post on Facebook, but when you do, you will be presenting your opportunity as somebody they feel they know and trust.
Then it will just come down to the quality of your product.
So, don't forget, you need to sell yourself before you can sell anything else.
When you understand the importance of selling yourself and creating your own brand image, you will realise that specialist training in this area will be hugely advantageous to you. I consider the training I received as part of my membership to the Internet Lifestyle Network to be the best I have ever seen. Absolutely world class.
